It is with sadness that we learned the death of Michelle NiCastro last November 04. The actress had played three roles in Santa Barbara : Cybill Jordan in 1986, Illiana in 1988, and especially in a more sustainable way Sasha Schmidt between 1989 and 1990.
Michelle was also known and appreciated for her talents as a singer : in musicals on stage, or as a dubber in musical cartoons. She had released four albums during her career.
A breast cancer has taken her away at the age of 50, leaving behind her a husband, Steve Stark, and two daughters. All our condolences to her family and loved ones.

Life and career
Nicastro was born in Washington D.C., the daughter of Carole Rose (née Guarino) and Norman Joseph Nicastro, who was an ophthalmologist. She provided the voice of Princess Odette in The Swan Princess and its sequels, The Swan Princess II: Escape from Castle Mountain and The Swan Princess: The Mystery of the Enchanted Kingdom, and the singing voice of Callisto for the Xena: Warrior Princess episode "The Bitter Suite". She also had guest starring roles in Airwolf and Knight Rider. She appeared, briefly, as the college sweetheart of Billy Crystal in When Harry Met Sally. In 1996 she played Snow White in Coach episode "Grimmworld" as the girlfriend of Michael "Dauber" Daubinski (Bill Fagerbakke). Nicastro also had a small role in Full House as Roxanne. She also played Lois "Old Lady" Scranton on an episode of Who's The Boss?.

On the stage, she created the role of Ariadne in the 1983 Broadway musical Merlin. She was the first Eponine in the second US tour of Les Misérables in 1988.

Nicastro has recorded four albums released on the Varese Saraband label. Two albums, Toonful and Toonful Too feature songs from animated musicals, Reel Imagination features songs from family musicals, and On My Own features songs from contemporary Broadway musicals, including her version of On My Own. They feature Paul Goldberg on drums and percussion, Walt Fowler on trumpet, Jimmy Hoff on bass, and Lanny Meyers piano/arranger.

Death
Nicastro died of breast and brain cancer on November 4, 2010 at her home with her family.

Когда в 1990 году шли серии, в которых Джулия и Мейсон обнаруживают в постели тело убитой Саши Шмидт и с испугу замораживают его в холодильнике, многие американские телекритики назвали эти эпизоды самыми уморительными за всю историю сериалов!

Жизнь калифорнийского клана частенько крутится вокруг загадочных убийств. В конце концов, если хорошенько покопаться, у каждого героя можно обнаружить один-два скелета в пыльном шкафу. Правда, шуточки в истории с бедной Сашей - на грани черного юмора. «Эй, ай блю...» - разносится над Санта-Барбарой пронзительное соло погибшей певицы. «Я посинела» или «Мне грустно»? Это уж кому как нравится в переводе с английского.


«ПРИЗРАК» ПРОДОЛЖАЕТ ПЕТЬ

Актриса Мишель НИКАСТРО, исполнительница роли Саши, не сразу осознала свое певческое призвание. Она никогда не пела в сериале «Дни нашей жизни», где снималась до «Санта-Барбары». Но позже почти все ее телевизионные роли так или иначе были связаны с вокалом.
В «Санта-Барбаре» Мишель Никастро сначала мелькнула в проходном эпизоде вместе с Джеффри, бывшим мужем Келли, в роли певички Илианы. Зрители запомнили ее лицо и прекрасный голос. Спустя несколько месяцев Мишель, облаченная в потрясающее неглиже, вернулась на съемочную площадку в качестве «Любовницы № 1».

Ее актерская карьера после «Санта-Барбары» складывается довольно удачно. Пение стало ее профессией. В Америке бешеным успехом пользуются компакт-диски певицы с исполнением классических детских песенок. Выпустив три альбома для детей, Мишель записала диск с коллекцией лучших песен из знаменитых мюзиклов Бродвея. Уроки обольщения, полученные Мишель в «Санта-Барбаре», даром не прошли. В популярной мелодраме «Когда Гарри встретил Салли» она сыграла роль Аманды - соблазнительной подружки героя Билли Кристала. А в сериале «Беверли Хиллз-90210» ей и вовсе досталась роль девушки по вызову, исполнившей на мальчишнике зажигательный стриптиз. Мишель обожает работать для детей. Принцесса Одетт в мультипликационном фильме «Принцесса-лебедь» говорит и поет ее голосом. Есть песни в ее исполнении и в альбоме «Музыкальные приключения Питера Пена», посвященном самому популярному сказочному герою американской детворы.

The character of Sasha Schmidt appears a few days around the return of Mason Capwell after several weeks of absence far from his owns, in fall 1989. The pretty intriguer turns very quickly to have been the mistress of the elder of the Capwell children, during his investigation in Palm Springs on mafioso Anthony Tonell's plans. Sasha, at her arrival in Santa Barbara, had however presented another face : that of the mistress of the famous Anthony Tonell...

Sasha is thus found on several occasions in the center of Mason's investigations on the embezzlements that dangerous Tonell would be going to do against the Capwell Enterprises. Sasha refuses to cooperate, furious that Mason hid to her that he was married. But it is without counting on the jealousy of Tonell, who discovers her passed affair with Mason. He kidnaps her, just like Kelly Capwell, and threatens to kill her. But the affair turns badly and Tonell is mysteriously killed.

Not having from now on anything more to loose, Sasha is well decided to gain Mason's heart and to put a term at his marriage with Julia. Augusta Lockridge, who turns to have been during all this time Anthony Tonell's wife, is the first to discover the passed affair of Sasha with Mason. And even if Augusta does not say anything to her sister not to wound her, Julia is not long to see clearly what Sasha's game is.

In order to help Mason to confound Craig Hunt, Sasha agrees to play the investors in an illegal maritime project. But, whereas she is on the board of the incriminated boat, this one, trapped by Craig, explodes. Sasha is injured, but is comforted to see Mason running to her help, proposing to help her to leave the country to escape Craig's revenge. When she discovers that this proposal is only an alibi to get rid of her, Sasha sees her love for Mason changing in hate. She decides to take a revenge on Julia and creates of all parts some evidences accusing her in the boat explosion. Mason is thus constrained to accept Sasha's conditions : some money to invest in the club The Lair and to record her own disc, and to divorce Julia. Sure that Mason will comply with her waitings, Sasha does not suspect that this last one acknowledged in Julia the blackmail which threatens him. Sasha is then at her turn victim of a machination. In front of Julia who makes her believe that, mad of jealousy, she shot Mason, Sasha is forced to give her her falsified evidence, or she will undergo the same fate. She agrees to comply, but immediately discovers that she was abused by the couple and caught in her own trap.

Fearing for her life since she was taken as a target by Craig, Sasha decides one evening to tell all the truth on her intrigues to the district attorney Ethan Asher. It is unfortunately a bad choice, since it is the same evening that Laura, Ethan's wife, escapes from the asylum in which she was locked up, in order to kill her husband. The two women arrive in Ethan's office, it is dark, the bullet is shot, and Sasha is killed. It is then another adventure which starts for Sasha, at least regarding her carnal envelope. Initially deposited in Julia and Mason's bed by Laura, Sasha is then locked up in the Capwell crypt by Julia and Mason, before finally landing in their freezer the time that the mystery of her death is officially elucidated. In love, avenger, singer at her lost hours and finally frozen... A rebounding course for a character before all very impassioned.

Странная штука: именно сейчас просматриваю серии, где играет Мишель... с Терри в роли Мейсона... Обоих теперь нет... Что тут скажешь?..

Очень жаль актрису. Но насчет того, что умер и Терри для меня это новость.
Я ее сразу заметила в роли Иллианы еще и мне тогда хотелось, чтобы Джеффри и Иллиана были вместе.

Тери Лестер очень давно умер. от сердечного приступа по-моему.
